Objective: This study assessed farmers' awareness of CSA practices, identified practices adopted, determined adoption intensity, examined associated socioeconomic and institutional factors, and identified major constraints to adoption. Method: A cross-sectional survey of 302 crop farmers across the Abakaliki, Onueke and Afikpo Agricultural Development Programme zones was conducted using a structured questionnaire; data were analysed with descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression. Results: Overall awareness was moderate (M = 2.19, SD = 0.91). Adoption was highest for irrigation (91.2%), organic manure (87.9%) and early planting (83.8%), and lowest for agroforestry (36.8%); 74.5% of farmers recorded high adoption intensity. Extent of use was highest for early planting (M = 3.20, SD = 0.77) and lowest for agroforestry (M = 1.84, SD = 0.95). High input cost (M = 2.67), lack of awareness (M = 2.66) and poor credit access (M = 2.59) were the leading constraints. The multinomial model was significant, χ²(28) = 101.15, p < .001, Nagelkerke R² = .372; credit access was positively associated with high adoption intensity (OR = 9.56, p < .001), while association membership was negatively associated (OR = 0.42, p = .035). Conclusion: Current approaches appear more successful at encouraging simpler, low-cost practices than at facilitating systemic integration of technically demanding ones, underscoring the need to address financial and informational constraints. Unique Contribution: The study contributes empirical evidence to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), informs state-level adaptation planning and extension targeting, and integrates the Diffusion of Innovations with the Theory of Planned Behaviour in explaining adoption intensity in sub-Saharan Africa. Key Recommendation: Extension agencies should establish demonstration plots within existing farmer groups that bundle widely adopted practices with underutilised ones such as agroforestry, while policymakers link microfinance schemes to registered farmers' associations to reduce input costs and expand credit access.","背景：埃邦伊州以雨养作物生产为主，使农民面临降雨变率和洪涝风险，但该州范围内关于气候智慧型农业（CSA）的实证证据仍然有限。 ,null,"International Journal of Sub-Saharan African Research","2026-09-26T00:00:00Z","论文",25,false,65
"H3","irrigation","水资源与灌溉","/topic/environment/irrigation","H",[
"classified","2026-10-22.2","rules
47,54,61,68,74
6,true,[],[52,36],"灌溉",[
"I1",3,[],[66],"smart agriculture",[
"G1",2,[],[],[31,32
"W7214438042",[87
Ogodo, Monday Ogodo, Ugbo, Ejike Andrew, Elechi Joseph Ogbonnaya & Chidozie-Omi Mercy Kaosisochukwu",0
[101,192,245,335,403,467
5381,"Climate-Smart Floriculture: Strategies for Sustainable Flower Production Under a Changing Climate","https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23467834","Floriculture is a high-value horticultural sector comprising cut flowers, potted flowering plants, foliage plants, ornamental bulbs and nursery plants. The sector is increasingly exposed to climate variability through rising temperature, drought, irregular rainfall, extreme weather events, elevated atmospheric CO₂ and changing pest and disease pressure. These stresses can influence vegetative growth, flowering, flower quality, production scheduling and postharvest performance, thereby affecting the economic value of ornamental crops. Climate-smart floriculture provides an integrated framework for improving resilience while maintaining productivity and resource-use efficiency. Key strategies include climate-resilient cultivar selection, efficient irrigation, soil-moisture conservation, protected cultivation, microclimate regulation, integrated pest management and precision technologies. Genetic improvement offers a long-term approach for developing cultivars capable of maintaining desirable ornamental traits under environmental stress, whereas protected cultivation can buffer crops against external climatic fluctuations. Efficient irrigation, rainwater harvesting and improved soil management can reduce vulnerability to water scarcity, while integrated pest management can address climate-associated changes in pest and disease pressure. Precision agriculture, controlled-environment agriculture and machine-learning-based decision systems offer additional opportunities for real-time monitoring and resource optimisation. However, technological adoption is influenced by investment costs, knowledge availability, extension services, market access and supportive policies. This study investigates the adoption of Climate-Smart Agricultural (CSA) and their impact on food crop production and nutrition security in Southwest Nigeria. A multistage sampling technique was adopted and 180 farm households were randomly sampled from Ogun, Ekiti and Oyo states. Descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis were used to evaluate the CSA adoption pattern, food security status and barrier to CSA adoption. The findings indicated that there was high awareness about CSA practices (86.67%) with 74.44% of the respondents implementing at least one of the CSA technologies. Improved crop varieties (88.89%), irrigation/water conservation (76.67%) and crop rotation (74.44%) were the most adopted practices. The outcomes of food and nutrition security were, however, highly vulnerable with 84.44% of the households expressing concern about food availability and 85.56% of households decreasing the size of their meals. Key factors identified as having an impact on adoption were access to finance (58.89%), extension support (52.78%) and access to inputs (43.89%). The poor extension services (83.89%) and high cost (77.78%) and lack of information (74.44%) were the major constraints. The results indicate that awareness of CSA is high, but that CSA adoption alone will not lead to better food and nutrition security unless accompanying efforts are made to tackle structural constraints. Policy recommendations include enhancing extension services, making credit more accessible, and encouraging farmer associations as a means of disseminating CSA. The study adds empirical evidence to support Nigeria's commitments to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). It investigates how waqf-based instruments and Islamic green finance mechanisms can be strategically mobilized to lower financing costs, enhance financial inclusion, and promote inclusive green growth, while contributing to the achievement of a just and equitable energy transition. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts a conceptual–analytical methodological approach that integrates systematic synthesis of secondary data and extant literature with techno-economic and financial modeling to evaluate the feasibility and applicability of the CGW model. The methodology combines supply-side and demand-side analytical perspectives on RE adoption and financing, operationalized through a solar-powered irrigation case application within Ghana’s agricultural sector. This integrated framework enables an assessment of technical performance, economic viability, and institutional suitability of the CGW model as a sustainable financing mechanism for decentralized clean energy infrastructure. Findings The CGW modelling provides a structured mechanism through which community participation, impact investment and Islamic social finance can be integrated to achieve reduction of the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), lower the levelized cost of water, improve RE investment performance (NPV, IRR and payback period) and mitigating CO2 emissions, thereby reinforcing Ghana’s climate mitigation commitments. Specifically, the baseline LCOE of USD 0.0900/kWh (GH¢1.1696) is reduced to USD 0.0573/kWh (GH¢0.7455) under the CGW_Finance scenario and further to USD 0.0402/kWh (GH¢0.5223) under the CGW_Proc_Perf scenario, representing approximate cost reductions of 36% and 55%, respectively. Finally, each kilowatt of installed photovoltaic capacity is estimated to avoid approximately 1.28 tonnes of CO2 annually relative to diesel-powered irrigation and about 0.45 tonnes relative to the national grid mix. Research limitations/implications The framework remains conceptual and requires empirical validation through pilot projects. Its success depends on enabling Islamic finance regulations, RE incentives and strong governance systems in rural communities. Practical implications The CGW provides a financing tool for policymakers, regulators and development partners to scale RE in agriculture, emphasizing fiscal incentives, regulatory alignment, and public–private partnerships to de-risk investment. Social implications By aligning Islamic social finance with RE, the model enhances energy access, strengthens agricultural productivity, creates rural employment and contributes to poverty reduction while advancing environmental sustainability. Originality/value This paper extends Islamic finance and RE literature by proposing CGW as a novel financing mechanism linking Islamic social funds with climate-smart agriculture, advancing inclusive green growth in Sub-Saharan Africa.","目的 本文提出社区绿色瓦克夫（Community Green Waqf, CGW）作为一种创新的伊斯兰社会金融框架，用于为加纳农村地区的可再生能源（renewable energy, RE）部署和农业现代化提供融资。 ,"Journal of Islamic accounting and business research","2026-09-29T00:00:00Z
"W7214734725",[391,394
Abdul-Jalil Ibrahim","https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1696-5643
Issah Mohammed","https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5598-3903
,"2026-09-30T23:30:09.700221Z
3059,"Climate Smart Agriculture and Food Security among Rural Farmers in Nasarawa State, Nigeria","https://doi.org/10.67317/ijmsrt26sep046","Climate change continues to threaten agricultural productivity and household food security, particularly among rural farmers who depend on rain-fed agriculture. Yet awareness of CSA does not necessarily translate into actual implementation, particularly where farmers face financial, technical and institutional constraints. This study examined the roles of climate experience, agricultural information and socioeconomic characteristics in CSA adoption among smallholder farmers in southwestern Nigeria. Primary data were obtained through a structured cross-sectional survey of 190 farmers in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. Descriptive statistics were used to characterise respondents and examine CSA awareness, agricultural information, experience of weather variability, willingness to adopt, reported adoption and perceived constraints. Because the adoption outcome was highly imbalanced, Firth-penalised logistic regression was used to identify factors independently associated with actual CSA adoption. The results show that 98.4% of respondents were aware of CSA and 96.3% reported experiencing changes in weather conditions. Although 96.3% expressed willingness to adopt CSA, 88.4% reported actual use, indicating an intention–implementation gap. Water-conservation technologies received the highest proportion of “very important” responses (83.7%), followed by organic manure (80.5%), drought-resistant crops (80.0%) and crop rotation (79.5%). Government extension officers were the principal reported source of agricultural information (55.3%). Implementation cost was the leading constraint (54.7%), followed by uncertainty about effectiveness (25.8%) and difficulty learning new techniques (19.5%). In the Firth model, experience of changing weather conditions was the only statistically significant predictor of adoption (OR = 10.401, 95% CI: 3.118–34.694, p < 0.001). Gender, education, farm size and extension information were not statistically significant. The findings indicate that CSA adoption in the study area is not adequately explained by awareness alone. Farmers’ direct experience of climatic variability appears to be an important stimulus for adaptation, while financial and technical constraints can restrict implementation. Climate adaptation policies should therefore move beyond general awareness creation towards practical extension, affordable inputs, locally relevant climate information and resource-supported implementation.","气候智慧型农业（climate-smart agriculture, CSA）日益被视为增强小农户耕作系统对气候变异性适应能力的手段。
"W7213578578",[519,521,523,525,527,529
Folasade J.
