The practical recommendation for the single application rate of compost in terms of the microbial community functioning for carbon retention still needs to be specified. It could be both economically and ecologically viable. The study combines two trials to ascertain: (1) short-term dynamics in indices of C retention (organic and microbial carbon content) and loss (basal respiration and soil respiration in situ) after a single application of compost to Albic Retisols at low and high (30 and 70 Mg dry mass ha −1 , respectively) rates for 1.5 years in a field trial; (2) long-term effects of compost application rates from 10 to 100 Mg ha −1 on the retention of a stable C pool considering two climate change scenarios (SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5) using the DeNitrification–DeComposition model. The short-term trial revealed that the low application rate of compost was more effective due to higher soil capacity to assimilate C into microbial biomass in relation to C loss under conditions of accelerated organic matter decomposition. The long-term modeling trial demonstrated that a stable pool of C can be maintained for two decades following a single application of compost at a rate of at least 30 Mg ha −1 . The results suggest that the single application of compost at rates of 30 Mg ha −1 shows promise for the retention of C in the stable pool over a period of at least two decades for Albic Retisols under the milder rate of climate change.","在农业中使用堆肥有利于废物管理和土壤健康。 ,null,"Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems","2026-09-17T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,75
"partial","2026-10-22.2","rules
[43,52,58,63,68
"H2",7,true,[],[49,50],"土壤","soil",[30
"H7",[],[26,56],"climate change",[26
"F3",[],[],[28
"H4",[],[],[29
"W7213473225",[83,85,87,89,91,93,95,97,100,102,105
Kristina Ivashchenko
Aleksei Dobrokhotov
Dmitry Khoroshaev
Sofia Sushko
Dmitry Sokolov
Timur Zhuk
Nadezhda Ananyeva","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0434-6071
Mikhail Sevostyanov
Д В Демин","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0469-7015
Olga Gavrichkova",0
,"openalex","2026-09-17T23:30:07.790294Z
6,[119,231,303,386,480,561
4318,"Soil Health Under Climate Change: A Review of Climate Impacts, Sustainable Management Strategies, and Future Directions","https://doi.org/10.3390/su181910109","Soil health is fundamental to sustainable agriculture, crop productivity, and vital ecosystem services. However, climate change increasingly threatens the functional integrity of soil due to rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, and extreme weather events. These factors accelerate soil degradation and disrupt the physical, chemical, and biological processes essential for maintaining soil health. This review synthesizes recent evidence regarding the impacts of climate change on soil health and crop production, while also evaluating sustainable management strategies designed to enhance agricultural resilience. Techniques such as conservation agriculture, organic matter management, diversified cropping systems, and integrated nutrient management can improve soil structure, nutrient cycling, water retention, carbon sequestration, and overall crop productivity. Furthermore, emerging technologies offer new opportunities for real-time, site-specific, and data-driven soil management. These technologies include remote sensing, geographic information systems, artificial intelligence, digital agriculture, and advanced soil monitoring tools. Additionally, policy and socioeconomic factors—particularly financial incentives, extension services, and institutional support—are critical in encouraging farmers to adopt these practices. Despite recent advancements, challenges such as economic barriers, technological limitations, regional variability, and a lack of long-term evidence hinder the widespread implementation of sustainable soil health practices. This review provides an integrated perspective that links climate-driven changes in soil’s physical, chemical, and biological properties with sustainable management practices, emerging technologies, and policy support. It highlights the interactions and trade-offs among these components to promote climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.","土壤健康是可持续农业、作物生产力及关键生态系统服务的基础。
"I1",[],[135,166],"digital agriculture",[135
[],[191],"carbon sequestration",[
"W7220388580",[212,215,218,221
Muhammad Irfan","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7685-3689
Gamal El Afandi","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5235-026X
Santosh Sapkota","https://orcid.org/0009-0007-2794-182X
Md Rafique Ahasan Chawdhery","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2010-3555
4324,"Holistic Modeling Approaches for Supporting Sustainability Transitions","https://doi.org/10.48565/bonndoc-1000","Agricultural and environmental decisions in agroecological systems are made under profound uncertainty, with complex trade-offs between productivity, ecological integrity and human well-being. This cumulative habilitation thesis brings together 32 peer-reviewed studies that develop and apply holistic modeling approaches to support such decisions and, more broadly, sustainability transitions. The first part advances decision analytical methods in agroecology. Structured decision models, Bayesian networks and Monte Carlo simulations, informed by expert-elicited probabilities, are used to evaluate interventions under incomplete information. Applications span agroforestry adoption and carbon offset schemes, horticultural management strategies, water resource management, flood-based farming systems, agricultural policy and household nutrition, and climate change adaptation and mitigation, with case studies in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. These models identify key trade-offs, risks and leverage points, and value-of-information analyses show where further measurements would most improve decisions. The second part advances methods in transdisciplinary research. It integrates participatory approaches, stakeholder engagement, local and Indigenous knowledge, and holistic sustainability assessment frameworks to co-create context-specific solutions and to bridge science, policy and practice. Together, the studies show that combining probabilistic modeling with participatory processes produces decision support that is both scientifically rigorous and practically relevant. The thesis concludes with implications for policy and with future research directions, including hybrid models that combine expert knowledge with emerging data, multi-criteria trade-off assessment, and the scaling of agroecological practices.","农业生态系统中的农业与环境决策是在深刻的不确定性下作出的， productivity）、生态完整性与人类福祉之间存在复杂的权衡。 ,"bonndoc (University of Bonn)","2026-10-05T00:00:00Z
[
[256,261,265,272,279
[],[247,259],"agroecology",[247
[],[26,56],[248
"W7220376706",[293
Cory Whitney","https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4988-4583
,"2026-10-06T23:30:43.643777Z
3348,"Nanobubble Technology in Smart Agriculture: Underlying Mechanisms and Application Dynamics for Resource Optimization","https://doi.org/10.1007/s41101-026-00573-2","Nanobubble (NB) technology is considered as an innovative approach in terms of efficient utilization of resources and production of crops. A nanobubble is an ultra-fine gas bubble generally smaller than 1 μm in diameter, commonly reported in the range of 50–200 nm, which behaves differently from ordinary bubbles due to its apparently tiny size, high internal pressure and surface charge. Their applications include irrigation management through improved water and oxygen delivery to the root zone, soil management by enhancing soil structure and aeration, and nutrient management with improved nutrient uptake and favourable microbial interactions. Despite these advances, large scale adoption remains constrained by greater variability in water quality, soil heterogeneity, irrigation system design and limitations related to nanobubble generation efficiency and economic feasibility. Addressing these challenges requires coordinated interdisciplinary efforts integrating agronomy, soil science and engineering to optimize application strategies and scalability. This review aims to synthesize current knowledge on nano bubble technology in agriculture, applications in irrigation, soil, nutrient, microbial management and assess its integration with sustainable systems. However, much of the available evidence is based on short-term or controlled studies and further long-term field validation across diverse agroecological conditions is needed. Together, nanobubble technology holds a promising future for maintaining and enhancing sustainability in agriculture. However, many edible plant species remain underutilized due to limited scientific characterization, weak integration into food systems, inadequate conservation attention, and insufficient application of emerging technologies for biodiversity assessment and management. This review evaluates the role of science and technology in supporting edible biodiversity conservation, nutritional utilization, grassland monitoring, and climate resilience within African grassland contexts. The review further examines processing technologies, nutritional composition, and food-safety considerations for underutilized edible species, linking conservation outcomes to food manufacturing applications and dietary relevance. A structured narrative review was conducted using records retrieved from Web of Science and Google Scholar, covering studies published from 2000 to 2026. Following the PRISMA-based identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion process, 74 studies were selected for qualitative synthesis. The included literature was examined across three interconnected thematic domains: (i) science and technology applications, including remote sensing, geographic information systems, ecological monitoring approaches, and molecular techniques; (ii) edible biodiversity conservation and utilization, focusing on plant diversity, nutritional potential, indigenous food resources, and sustainable management; and (iii) climate resilience and policy integration, addressing ecosystem adaptation, governance, and conservation planning. The review demonstrates that technological approaches provide valuable tools for documenting biodiversity patterns, improving ecological assessments, and strengthening evidence-based conservation decisions, although the extent of their application remains uneven across African grassland systems. The findings further highlight that underutilized edible species are constrained not only by limited consumption and market integration but also by inadequate agronomic research, conservation prioritization, and policy recognition. Based on the synthesized evidence, a science–technology integration framework is proposed to connect biodiversity monitoring, nutritional assessment, sustainable utilization, and climate adaptation strategies. This framework provides an evidence-informed pathway for advancing the conservation and sustainable use of edible plant diversity. The framework also recognizes the current limitations in empirical validation and implementation across different grassland regions.","摘要 加纳及类似非洲稀树草原地区的草地生态系统支撑着多样化的植物资源，这些资源对粮食安全、生态系统功能和气候适应具有重要贡献。 Journal becoming more challenging because of unpredictable weather, worsening soil health, more frequent pest and disease outbreaks, and limited access to expert advice when farmers need it most. While traditional agricultural advisory services have helped farmers for many years, they often fall short in giving advice that suits each farmer's unique location and situation. This is due to not having enough experts, language differences, and varied farming practices across regions. To ad-dress these issues, this research introduces a Smart Farming Assistant Chatbot powered by advanced Al technologies like Generative Al, Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation. This chatbot is designed to be multilingual and voice-enabled, so farmers can easily talk to it in their own language or dialect. It supports many regional languages including Marathi, Hindi, Kan-nada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, and English.Unlike typical chatbots that use fixed answers, this assistant understands natural conversations, local farming terms, and even mixed language use like Marathi-English or Hindi-English, making communication smooth and natural. The system brings together a wide range of farming information-from details about crops, soil, and weather, to pest control, fertilizers, market trends, and government schemes.By combining the power of Al with trustworthy agricultural knowledge, the chatbot offers practical, ac-curate, and personalized advice while minimizing the chances of giving wrong information. What makes this system truly special is that it breaks down language barriers, allowing farmers to get expert-level help without needing technical skills or knowing a specific language.Farmers can interact with it through text or voice, getting support for everything from choosing crops and planning irrigation, to managing soil, preventing diseases, and making sustainable farming decisions. This approach aims to empower small and marginal farmers, reduce their reliance on traditional advisory ser-vices, help them use resources more efficiently, and promote smart, inclusive farming that benefits everyone.Ultimately, this system moves us closer to an Al-driven agricultural world where technology adapts to farmers' needs, making farming easier and more productive for all.","当今农业面临着日益严峻的挑战，包括不可预测的天气、不断恶化的土壤健康、愈发频繁的病虫害暴发，以及农民在最需要时难以获得专家指导。 （Generative However, the coarse spatial resolution of passive microwave products, including the 9 km Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) retrievals, limits their effectiveness at regional and local scales. To address this limitation, three machine learning-based downscaling frameworks were compared to improve SMAP SM resolution from 9 km to 1 km over Békés County, Hungary. The study period covered the growing seasons (April to October) from 2020 to 2023. A set of multi-temporal MODIS-derived variables, including vegetation indices (NDVI, EVI), daytime and night-time land surface temperature, and evapotranspiration, along with land cover classification and topographic elevation, were combined as auxiliary predictor variables. Three machine learning algorithms, Random Forest (RF), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), were trained and evaluated. The results showed that (1) the RF model had the highest accuracy during the testing (R2 = 0.71, RMSE = 0.0295 m3/m3) phase and validation against four in situ monitoring stations with confirmed reliable SM estimation at the local scale; (2) daytime LST was the most important predictor in all models, underscoring the strong thermal–moisture coupling that governs surface SM dynamics; and (3) the validated RF model produced 1 km Standardized Soil Moisture Index (SSI) maps that effectively captured inter-annual drought variability, identifying the severe drought of July 2022. Overall, this study presents a downscaling approach for generating high-resolution SM data suitable for Central European agricultural environments. The resulting 1 km SM and SSI products provide valuable tools for decision-makers to enhance planning during drought periods and reduce agricultural losses through improved irrigation scheduling.","土壤水分（SM）的精确制图对于有效监测农业干旱至关重要。
[
[583,587,593,598,603,607
[50],[49,50],[577
[589],"drought",[591,589],"干旱",[576
[595],"machine learning",[575,595],[575
[],[339,340,601],"evapotranspiration",[
[],[],[317
"W7208719644",[619,621,624,627
Mahrokh Shafiei
István Waltner","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6704-8936
Z.
