However, ecological indicators used to track these changes remain uneven in structure and application. This study maps and synthesizes indicators applied in agroecology and nature-based solutions (NbS) for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem responses under climate change. A PRISMA-ScR-guided scoping review was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, covering literature from 2003 to 2026. From a final dataset of 89 sources, data were extracted through a structured coding framework and synthesized using an Indicator–Scale–Response matrix and an Indicator Application Index. Findings show shared reliance on indicators such as species diversity, ecosystem productivity, carbon dynamics, ecosystem services, and resilience. Differences emerge in how these indicators are applied. Agroecology prioritizes process-based and field-level measurements grounded in local ecological interactions, while NbS emphasizes standardized and scalable metrics linked to monitoring and reporting systems. Cross-scale integration remains uneven, particularly in connecting species-level responses with ecosystem and landscape indicators. Remote sensing and Essential Biodiversity Variables provide emerging pathways for linking scales, though field integration remains partial. Results point to fragmented indicator systems that limit coherent ecological assessment across management contexts. Strengthening alignment between field observations and scalable monitoring approaches could improve comparability and usability of ecological indicators for climate adaptation and ecosystem management in agricultural landscapes.","气候变化重塑了跨尺度的生物多样性模式与生态系统过程。 ,null,"Ecological Indicators","2026-10-16T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,64
"H6","biodiversity","生态保护与生物多样性","/topic/environment/biodiversity","H",[39
"H7","climate","气候适应与防灾减灾","/topic/environment/climate
"classified","2026-10-22.2","rules
50,59,65
"I3",6,[],[70,71],"遥感","remote sensing",[],[74,75],"基于自然的解决方案 农业生态学 生物多样性 气候变化","基于自然的解决方案 农业生态学","基于自然的解决方案农业生态学生物多样性气候变化-5163","10.1016/j.ecolind.2026.115685
"W7222588017",[81,84,87,90,92
Eliakira Kisetu Nassary","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7327-4366
Mawazo Jamson Shitindi","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5579-902X
Aneth Japhet Magubika","https://orcid.org/0009-0001-8910-1953
Esta Alfred Mhagama
Newton Lwiyiso Kilasi","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4721-7691",0
[107,173,270,344,455,539
5101,"Advances in Cerrado and tropical grassland plant biology – diversity, functioning, resilience and conservation","https://doi.org/10.1093/aob/mcag331","Abstract Background Tropical grasslands and savannas are ancient, highly diverse ecosystems that support important ecological processes, ecosystem services and human livelihoods, yet they are increasingly threatened by agricultural expansion, altered fire regimes, invasive species and climate change. The Cerrado, the largest savanna-dominated region in the Neotropics, exemplifies both the exceptional biological diversity and vulnerability of tropical open ecosystems. Despite major advances in plant ecology and evolution, important gaps remain in understanding how plants and plant communities respond to environmental change and disturbance. Scope We review recent advances in plant biology in the Cerrado and other tropical grasslands, covering their evolution, vegetation patterns, plant–animal interactions, functional ecology, responses to fire and environmental change, and restoration and conservation. We consider processes from plant traits and physiological responses to community and ecosystem dynamics, examining how environmental and biotic factors shape the diversity, functioning and resilience of tropical grassy ecosystems. Conclusions Recent advances reinforce the value of tropical grasslands as model systems for advancing fundamental plant science while providing knowledge relevant to their conservation and restoration. Future research should better integrate -omics, functional and evolutionary approaches with long-term monitoring, remote sensing and predictive modelling to understand plant responses to climate change, land-use intensification and changing disturbance regimes. Plant research can also contribute to ecosystem restoration, sustainable land management and climate adaptation. Greater recognition of native plant diversity as a resource for sustainable bioeconomies and local livelihoods can further connect biodiversity conservation with societal needs.","摘要 背景 热带草原和稀树草原是古老且高度多样的生态系统，支撑着重要的生态过程、生态系统服务与人类生计，然而它们正日益受到农业扩张、火 regime 改变、入侵物种和气候变化的威胁。 ,"Annals of Botany","2026-10-14T00:00:00Z",72
"W7222330485",[155,158,161,164
Robert G. Although agriculture remains central to national food security, employment and rural livelihoods, the ecological, economic and institutional systems that sustain agricultural production are under increasing pressure. Climate variability, land degradation, biodiversity loss, demographic change, market volatility and institutional constraints are interacting in ways that threaten both agricultural productivity and the resilience of rural communities. These challenges are deeply interconnected and cannot be addressed through isolated sectoral interventions or yield-focused agricultural policies alone. This paper examines the regeneration of rural futures through the lens of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), arguing that CSA should be understood not merely as a collection of improved farming practices but as an integrated systems framework for rural transformation. Drawing upon contemporary scholarship in climate science, agricultural development, resilience studies, ecological restoration, rural sociology and institutional governance, the paper explores how climate-smart approaches can contribute simultaneously to agricultural productivity, climate resilience, environmental sustainability and inclusive rural prosperity. Focusing on Nigeria, the analysis examines the country’s diverse agroecological zones, evolving climate risks, smallholder farming systems, demographic transitions and institutional landscape. The paper demonstrates that effective climate-smart strategies must be locally adaptive while remaining aligned with nationally coherent development objectives. It argues that Nigeria’s long-term agricultural competitiveness will depend less on expanding cultivated land and more on improving the resilience, productivity and sustainability of existing farming systems through knowledge-intensive innovation, ecosystem restoration, digital technologies, strengthened rural institutions and integrated value chain development. The paper further contends that sustainable rural transformation requires moving beyond fragmented development projects towards Rural Resilience Ecosystems in which agriculture, environmental management, community institutions, infrastructure, digital technologies, enterprise development and knowledge systems function as mutually reinforcing components of a coherent development strategy. Within this framework, the Climate-Smart Farmer Hub is presented as an operational example of how climate-smart agriculture, rural innovation, environmental stewardship and community capacity development can be integrated within locally responsive institutional systems that support broader national objectives for sustainable agricultural transformation and climate resilience. The paper concludes that Regenerating Rural Futures provides a useful systems-oriented paradigm for understanding how ecological integrity, economic opportunity, institutional effectiveness and community wellbeing can be strengthened simultaneously. By integrating contemporary scholarship with the realities of Nigerian agriculture and an original community-centred institutional framework, the study contributes an evidence-informed analytical perspective for advancing climate-smart agriculture, rural resilience and sustainable rural transformation in Nigeria and comparable development contexts.","尼日利亚农村正处在一个决定性的十字路口。 Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)","2026-10-12T00:00:00Z",25,78
[217],"climate resilience",[217],[194
"I1",[223],"smart agriculture",[223],[193
[],[28,56,34],[
"G2",3,[],[235],"smallholder",[
"I",[],[],[193
"W7221462831",[261
Franklin N. However, such ground-truth datasets remain scarce, limiting the full potential of Earth system data applications. Here we present a comprehensive ground-based soybean phenology dataset for Northeast China, a region critical to national food security. The dataset integrates historical paper-based logs (1980s–1990s) with modern electronic records (2000s onwards) from 43 national agrometeorological stations operated by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), spanning a 15° latitudinal gradient (38–53°N) across Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces over 44 years (1981–2024). It provides the timing (day of year, DOY) of eight key phenophases (sowing, emergence, three-leaf, branching, flowering, pod formation, seed filling, maturity) and the durations of six intervening growth intervals. A multi-tiered quality assurance framework combining automated consistency checks, statistical outlier detection, and expert arbitration against agronomic principles and auxiliary climate data ensures high data integrity and completeness (>99%; paper era: 93.8%; electronic era: 98.1%). Rising temperatures, increased evapotranspiration, irregular precipitation, droughts, flooding, and sea-level rise can intensify salt accumulation and alter soil–water interactions. This review examines the emerging challenges associated with climate change and soil salinity in Pakistan, focusing on their impacts on soil properties, crop physiology, agricultural production, and rural livelihoods. It discusses the mechanisms of soil salinity and sodicity, their spatial distribution, and the interactions among climate variability, irrigation practices, groundwater quality, and secondary salinization. Furthermore, sustainable management approaches are evaluated, including gypsum application, organic amendments, integrated nutrient management, efficient irrigation, drainage improvement, and appropriate leaching strategies. Climate-resilient approaches, such as conventional crop breeding, modern biotechnology, halophyte utilization, plant growth-promoting microorganisms, and mycorrhizal associations, are also explored. The review highlights the potential of remote sensing, geographic information systems, precision agriculture, and predictive modelling to support salinity monitoring and site-specific management. Despite these opportunities, important challenges remain, including insufficient long-term monitoring, limited region-specific data, economic constraints, and gaps in farmer awareness and institutional coordination. Addressing these challenges requires integrated research, effective agricultural policies, improved extension services, and collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and farming communities. Prioritizing locally adapted, economically feasible, and environmentally sustainable interventions can strengthen agricultural resilience, restore salt-affected soils, and protect freshwater resources. Overall, integrating climate adaptation with sustainable soil and water management is essential for maintaining agricultural productivity and improving long-term food security in Pakistan.","土壤盐渍化是制约巴基斯坦农业生产力、土壤健康和粮食安全的主要因素，在气候变化条件下尤为突出。 ,"Kashmir Journal of Academic Research and Development","2026-10-20T00:00:00Z",66
[364,369
"H2","soil","土壤健康与改良","/topic/environment/soil
"H3","irrigation","水资源与灌溉","/topic/environment/irrigation
[377,382,387,394,399,403,409,416,422
"W7222999158",[434,436,438,440,442,444,447
Asifa Naz
Muhammad Abu Baker Siddiq
Syed Asghar Hussain Shah
Shahrish Nawaz
Muhmmad Irfan
Rizwana Kausar","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1339-3312
Muhammad Nouman Khalid
,"2026-10-21T23:30:23.059448Z
5312,"Agricultural Production under Climate Change in Afghanistan: Impacts, Challenges and Adaptation Options (A Review)","https://esrj.edu.af/esrj/article/view/123","Climate change poses serious challenges to agriculture in Afghanistan, a country largely dependent on rainfed farming and highly vulnerable to water scarcity, drought, and temperature extremes. Understanding the impacts of climate variability and identifying effective adaptation strategies are essential to sustain agricultural productivity and ensure food security. This systematic review synthesizes empirical, modeling, and review studies on climate change effects on Afghan agriculture, assesses adaptation measures, and integrates regional experiences from Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. A structured literature search was conducted using peer-reviewed articles, institutional reports, and regional studies published between 2000 and 2025. Studies were selected based on relevance to Afghan agro-ecological systems, climate stressors, and adaptation strategies. We extracted data using a structured table format following PRISMA guidelines, combining national and regional evidence. Findings indicate that water scarcity, prolonged drought, rising temperatures, and erratic precipitation are the main stressors affecting major crops, including wheat, barley, chickpea, maize, and cotton. Yield reductions ranged from 12% to 25% across provinces. Adaptation strategies such as Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), efficient irrigation (drip and sprinkler), rainwater harvesting, mulching, and drought- or heat-tolerant crop varieties were most effective. Regional evidence confirms the transferability of these measures under similar agro-climatic conditions. In conclusion, climate change significantly threatens agricultural productivity in Afghanistan. Evidence-based adaptation strategies, supported by coordinated policy and capacity-building initiatives, can enhance resilience, protect rural livelihoods, and ensure sustainable food security.","气候变化对阿富汗农业构成严峻挑战，该国农业在很大程度上依赖雨养耕作，极易受到水资源短缺、干旱和极端温度的影响。
[473
[477,482,486,490,497,504,511,516
[61],[27,380,61,480],"drought",[27
[],[390,391,371],[
[],[213,211],[213
"A2",[],[494,495],"小麦","wheat",[
"A3",[],[501,502],"玉米","maize",[
"A6",[],[508,509],"棉花","cotton",[
4,[],[223],[468
"W7222907396",[527,529,531
Mohammad Shafiq Faieq
Mustafa Abid
Abdul khalil Afghani
,"2026-10-19T23:30:11.285828Z
5195,"Nanoagricultural revolution under global warming: optimizing growth and nutrient use efficiency","https://doi.org/10.1080/01904167.2026.2742923","Global food security faces growing threats from climate change, population growth, and environmental degradation, which reduce crop yield and quality.
